YONDE KUDASAI  -  (Please read)

Sorry for the lack of updates!! Jikan ga arimasen. I returned to college and did a one year Access course so I could go to university. Now I am at university studying a Japanese language degree. I hope what is on this site is of some use to you all, but as some of you already have done, feel free to drop me a line if you want to know specific Japanese words or phrases. However, I will be in Japan from September 2003 until sometime around June 2004, so wish me luck! Genki de ne.

Oh, and the University Assignment links above are for an I.T. module I had to do. They're on here for part of that module and are of no particular interest, but if you're bored, they are available to view. You have been warned!

Welcome to Game Otaku, your source for translations and guides to those Japanese games you've just purchased, or stuck on the shelf due to being overcome by incomprehensible Japanese text.

Whether the games are new, old or available in English already, I will try to have guides for them all. All current formats will be covered, which basically means Dreamcast, Playstation 1 & 2, Nintendo 64 and Gameboy. I'll probably throw in some Saturn bits too, as some of the best stuff was only released in Japan towards the end of it's life.

Along with providing guides to games, I'll attempt to teach Japanese! Now, this is virtually impossible to do without years of study, but what I will offer will teach basic phrases and have you reading some of the scripts within days! In my Translations you'll find menus and options translated for you, but in the process you may begin to learn a little Japanese.

Store bargain bins are full of cheap Japanese games, so grab one of my guides to go with them, and get playing!

Site Guide-

News
Latest site additions and gaming news from around the world.

Japanese Basics
Learn basic Japanese phrases and how to read Japanese scripts.

Translations
My game guides will cover the basics of the game, translating menus, options and any essential content.

Common Words
Many Japanese games use the same scripts for common aspects of the game such as Options, Player details and Memory Card managers. The Common Words section covers words you will find in almost all Japanese games, so even if a translation for your new game doesn't yet exist, you may not get stuck.

Import Guide
Own a non-Japanese console? My Import Guide will let you know what you need and how to play imported games on Western systems.

Reviews
Game reviews for my most played or favourite games.

Charts
What I'm currently playing, and opinion polls.

Enable Codes
Many Japanese Playstation games will not run on a Western machine unless a Gameshark or similar cheat cartridge is used. An enable code is then required to run the game. Look in here for a comprehensive list.

In Depth FAQs
Full FAQs to games which cover more than translations.

I hope this site is useful to you! Enjoy....
